Augusta man arrested in connection with bank robbery

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- John Cecil Slater, 66, of Augusta, was arrested without incident by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, and Maine State Police, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, July 9 in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire.

Slater was wanted in connection with the robbery of The Bank of Maine, 14 Winthrop Street in Hallowell on Monday, June 23.

Slater's initial appearance is scheduled for Thursday, July 10 in Bangor federal court.
