The Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) is collecting, organizing and submitting the applications received to the Presidential Inauguration Committee, the agency that ultimately selects the parade participants. The JTF-NCR is not the approving agency.

Members of the JTR-NCR are responsible for coordinating all military ceremonial support on behalf of the Presidential Inaugural Committee and the Joint Congressional  Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies.  U.S. Armed Forces have participated in inaugurations since the first one held in 1789, when George Washington was escorted to Federal Hall in New York City to be sown in as President.
