AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --
The Maine Homeless Veterans Benefit Concert kicked off in Augusta for the seventh year.
The money raised will help fund an event held annually at the Togus Veteran's Hospital providing homeless veterans in shelters with kits full of items for the winter like warm coats and boots.
Other groups that offer similar services - like the American Legion also help with the event.
Veterans can also collect items needed for their homes, like beds and appliances.
Every year, the benefit concert grows in size and has had to change venues.
“When we first started this, we started off in the Waterville American Legion and then we went to the Augusta Elks, standing room only, then we went to the Armory and now we're at the Civic Center for the second year."
