Mystery writer John Connolly

in the blood-stained world of crime fiction, there are few writers who are more personally charming than John Connolly.

His latest work is "A Time of Torment," the fourteenth book in his series, set mostly in Maine, about private investigator Charlie Parker.

Connolly's first job was working at the Black Point Inn in Scarborough where he was, as he called himself, the world's worst waiter.

He's been coming to Maine since 1991 and loves it here. He says he's loved to see the state's changes. He says he also wants to see that the state - specifically Portland - doesn't lose its character.
