Horror, thriller and dark movies with the boys from Bull Moose

Halloween is almost upon us. Get in the spirit with some movies and TV shows. Chris and Brett from Bull Moose share some new picks.

"Ghostbusters" (2016) – DVD, Blu-ray
Doesn’t it seem so long ago when the internet freaked out that hilarious women would star in the Ghostbusters reboot? Sure, maybe the late Harold Ramis could have played the ghost of Egon Spengler… Anyhow, after everyone calmed down, most people thought it was pretty good.

"Carrie" (Collector’s Edition) – Blu-ray
The 40th anniversary edition of Carrie, based on the Stephen King novel, includes a new 4K scan of the film and second disc of special features.

"Vamp" – Blu-ray
We should let the dialog describe the film.
“You look awful. What happened to you?”
“I was nearly hung. I got into a fight with a psychotic albino. I ate a cockroach. My best friend disappeared and then I’m nearly assassinated by a runaway elevator.”
He neglected to mention that when his frat sent him out to find a stripper, he ended up with Grace Jones as a vampire.

John Carpenter’s "The Thing" (Collector’s Edition)  – Blu-ray
Chris’ favorite horror movie is being reissued with a new 2K scan and a new 4.1 sound mix. (The original theatrical mix is included for those who prefer it.) Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley and ten other men dig up an alien under Antarctic ice. It actually has a lot in common with Alien. The score is by Ennio Morricone and the bonus features are excellent.

"Twilight Zone", Seasons 1-5 – Blu-ray
"Twilight Zone", Fan Favorites – Blu-ray
The Twilight Zone (the 60s episodes, not the 1980s ones) is back on Blu-ray, now at a much lower price. They look fantastic, especially considering their age. If you aren’t convinced this is one of the best TV series’ ever, you can buy Fan Favorites. It has contains most of the most famous episodes, such as the one in which William Shatner thinks he sees a gremlin on an airplane’s wing, the one in which a bookworm is locked in a bank vault during a nuclear war, and the one in which Lee Marvin boxes against a robot.
