ATLANTA (NBC) -- The Government is warning parents about some baby garmetns that have been associated with a strange rash on children. The outfits targeted by the warning have tagless labels and are made by Carter's Inc. It has been reported that some 400 babies have developed rashes on their backs after wearing the garments. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says parents should stop putting the clothes on children if they develop a rash, but the agency did not issue a recall. Carter's issued a statement on their website, saying "The reported skin rashes have been associated with tag-less labels used in our Fall 2007 product line. These labels have a solid, rather than stenciled, background. Prior and current Carter's product lines utilize labels with stenciled backgrounds and have not been linked to skin rashes." The clothes were sold at Carter's stores and at some national retail department stores. The products could still be on store shelves, so consumer are advised to be wary and check labels.
