For someone in search of variety in their workout...choosing a program that blends several different practices together may be just what you need. On this Fit at Five we take a look at one of those combination workouts.

Nia, which stands for neuromuscular integrated action, started 25 years ago in California. It is just now gaining popularity in Maine. It blends martial arts, healing arts, and dance arts. Providing you with a full body workout that is safe on the joints.

In a 60 minute Nia class the average person can burn 300 to 600 calories, as well as improve their posture, muscular strength, and nervous system.

We have provided several links to find Nia classes near you, and also information on how you can become certified in teaching Nia.
