At what age do you remember starting to make healthy food choices? For many of us those decisions don't happen until later in life. On this Fit at Five we take a look at a program in Maine working to change that. Let's Go teaches a younger generation how to eat healthy and stay active.
Let's Go started up in 2006 and has now been brought into child care centers, schools, and doctor's offices. We visited the Trinity Day School which has been working with the Let's Go Program for the past two years. Even the toddlers start learning about healthy habits, and have responded positively to their active lifestyle. The biggest change can be found in the lunches the parents pack for their children. Macaroni and cheese has now been replaced with hummus, crackers, and fruit. The kids even make it their goal to eat the colors of the rainbow.
We have provided a link to Let's Go if you would like more information on their program.
