Fit at Five: 1st Down Training
When your hometown team heads to the Superbowl it's a pretty easy bet that fans of all ages are beginning to get Patriots fever! For many young athletes the big game is a good motivator to help them achieve goals like Tom Brady. Now some kids are getting the opportunity to practice their football skills with the professionals. On this Fit at Five we check out a program that is helping a new generation fall in love with the sport, and teaching them that hard work really does pay off.
CFL football player and Maine native Quinton Porter started 1st Down Training three years ago. The first two years the program focused on quarterbacks and receivers. Now they have opened the program to a full field of positions.
Besides the youth and high school groups 1st Down Training also holds a community outreach program to let kids that wouldn't have the opportunity to come to get the training as well. The hope with 1st Down Training is to expand the program to cover other sports in the future.
