  St. John River Rapidly Falling

FORT KENT(AP) -- The St. John River is dropping much faster than expected -- fast enough that some Fort Kent residents were allowed back into their homes this morning. Lynette Miller of the Maine Emergency Management Agency says the river had fallen below flood stage to 24.5 feet as of this morning.

FORT KENT (AP) -- Evacuations continue in Fort Kent, where the raging St. John River is three feet above flood stage and rising. Residents have been ordered to leave homes and businesses as floodwaters spill into the Canadian border town. An emergency shelter has been set up at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

FORT KENT (AP) -- The rain-swollen St. John River began receding early this morning after hitting a new record high that forced hundreds of Fort Kent-area residents to flee to higher ground as more than 100 homes flooded.

  Live Truck Crash - April 15

FALMOUTH (NEWS CENTER) -- Traffic is flowing once again on I-295 in Falmouth after an accident involving a NEWS CENTER live truck. The crash happened in the northbound lane. State Police completely shut down a section of the road near the Falmouth spur to the Maine Turnpike, as well as one southbound lane.

The Boston Red Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3 in Denver, completing their second World Series sweep in four years. Making his first career postseason start, Jon Lester pitched five-and-two-thirds scoreless innings before giving way to the bullpen.

It looked scary for a couple innings, but the Red Sox pulled through with a 10-5 win over Colorado in game 3 of the World Series. Rookies Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia went a combined 7-for-10 and Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning. Matsuzaka even drove in two runs.

Curt Schilling pitched the Red Sox to a 2-1 victory and a 2-0 lead in the World Series over the Colorado Rockies. Mike Lowell hit a tiebreaking double in the fifth and the Red Sox got 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief from Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon.

  Saint John River Ice Jam

People in Aroostook County are keeping a close eye on a huge ice jam in the Saint John River, where it meets the Saint Francis. The ice jam has grown to about 11 miles, pushing chunks dangerously close to Louie and Patty Pelletier's house in Allagash.
