The high temperature at the Portland Jetport Monday was 29 degrees after a record setting low of 11 this morning. This was the tenth time this month the temperature failed to go above freezing which ties the record for the most days with highs 32 or below in the month of March. In case you're wondering this also happened in 1984, 1972, 1967 & 1960. On another note the record we set this morning was the first record low since March 7, 2007. More cold weather is on tap for Tuesday. Morning sunshine will give way to increasing clouds as a ridge of high pressure slides off to the east. A light southerly wind should allow temperatures to approach the low 30s. A little warmer than Monday but still way below normal. On Wednesday we'll be dealing with a major east coast storm which right now is expected to track just far enough away so as to only bring us some light snowfall. The storm has yet to form so it remains to be seen how well the computers are handling it. It should pull away from us Wednesday night with more cold weather in its wake for Thursday. Warmer air will then work its way northward Friday and as we make the transition we could see some snow or rain in the morning.
