PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- A Lewiston man has pleaded guilty to stealing packages of prescription drugs sent to veterans while he worked for United Parcel Service.

Nathan Brown pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to theft from an interstate shipment and possession of oxycodone.

The 24-year-old Brown worked for UPS loading trucks in Auburn. Authorities say between March 29 and June 19 he stole four packages that contained pills, including Percocet and oxycodone.

Authorities set up a sting in July and caught Brown trying to steal a package with 60 Percocet pills.

Prosecutors say he stole more than 500 pills overall, using some for himself and selling others.

He faces up to three years in prison at sentencing scheduled for June 6.
