GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Two drivers were hospitalized after two cars collided on Bernard P. Rines Highway between Narragansett Street and South Street Thursday morning.

The Gorham Fire and Rescue Department responded to the crash just after 11 a.m. The head-on collision shut down roads in the area.

Police say a 2001 Toyota Camry was traveling north on the highway when a 1999 Dodge Caravan, traveling south on the highway, lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the center line into the northbound lane. The Caravan hit the Camry head-on.

The driver of the caravan was partially ejected due to the impact of the crash. Both drivers were transported to Maine Medical Center by Gorham Rescue crews.

The driver of the caravan has been identified as Justin Ouellette of Biddeford, Maine. He is in critical condition. The driver of the Camry has been identified as David Russell, of Standish, Maine. He suffered non-life threatening injuries during the crash.

Gorham Police Department investigators are reconstructing the crash scene.
