AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- For the last 6 months, Bob Terwilliger of Ellsworth has been planning to propose to his girlfriend, Ashley Callen of Dixfield.
"Honestly, she's the best thing that's every happened to me."
On Sunday, Terwilliger told Callen he would be getting her engagement ring sized while she was attending the Maine Wedding Association bridal show in Augusta... although he hadn't yet proposed.
Standing behind the curtain facing some 50 people gathered for a drawing... Terwilliger was actually at the bridal show.
"Duck on a pond would be a good explanation right now," he says. "I'm pretty calm on the surface but underneath the legs are going a mile a minute."
Organizers helped to get two grand-prize honeymoons, so that Callen would bite into a winning cupcake, find the fake ring inside and receive a free honeymoon, too.
Then out of nowehere came Bob singing Michael Buble's "All I do is dream of you."
"All day through I do dream of you, dear. I hope you know this. Will you be my wife?" Callen said yes.
This is the first wedding proposal in the Maine Wedding Association's 22 year history.
