DIXFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police in Dixfield are searching for several suspects they say vandalized a campground and a middle school last weekend.

The damage is believed to be in the thousands of dollars but the owner of the campground says it could have been much worse.
The owner of the campground, George Welch showed us what the office and camp store looked like when he walked in Monday morning. The door had been kicked in, a postcard display toppled, white paint splattered on the floor, a glass candy case shattered, the cash register smashed, the window busted out. Amazingly, the suspects left a laptop, money and other items in the store untouched. Police say the suspects also broke into 7 campers and several other buildings including the rec hall. They also believe the vandals are responsible for smashing a window at the T.W. Kelly Dirigo Middle School, located just down the road from the campground.

Welch hope authorities find whoever is responsible quickly. If you have any information you can call the Dixfield Police Department, the number is 562-4517.
