HOLLIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police say a man and a woman were killed in a two-vehicle collision along Route 117 in Hollis this afternoon.
Troopers say the road was covered in slush at the time and weather was a factor in the crash.
The names of the dead are being withheld as family members are being notified.
State Police Trooper Robin Parker says a 17-year-old driver of a van lost control and it crossed the center line into the path of a pickup truck. The teenager survived the crash, which killed his two passengers. Parker said the crash took place on a straight stretch of the road.
The occupants of the pickup truck both sustained multiple injuries but are expected to survive. They are being treated at Maine Medical hospitals in Biddeford and Portland.
The teenager driving the van also sustained multiple injuries and also is expected to survive. He is being treated at Maine Medical.
A team of six State Troopers went to the crash site to assist in the investigation.
Officials say parts of Cape Road, also known as Route 117, are still closed.
