KITTERY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Massachusetts State Police lifted an AMBER Alert when the child was found safe and the mother taken into custody in North Carolina Saturday afternoon.
The Kittery Police Department had announced Saturday that at least one of the subjects of the AMBER Alert had been reportedly seen in Kittery over the last 2 days.
Police said Leeanna Wilson, 50, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts was reported to have been seen on Thursday and Friday of this week at retail establishments in Kittery.
Sergeant Gary Eaton of the Kittery Police Department wants to make clear these reports are unconfirmed sightings. "The mother was reportedly seen on two separate occasions, but we have not confirmed either report." Eaton said the reported sightings occurred on the Route 1 business district in Kittery. Eaton added that the child had not been seen in either report.
The Massachusetts State Police issued an AMBER alert asking public's help in locating 6 year old female child Alize Whipple, who was allegedly abducted by Wilson, her non-custodial mother. The child is described as a black female approximately 3'9" tall, weighing 45 pounds with dark hair. Alize was last seen wearing a pink top, pink petite pants and pink sparkly shoes. Officials say she was last seen on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at approximately 4:00p.m., on Normandy Street in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Massachusetts State Police believed the child had been abducted by her non-custodial mother, Leeanna Wilson. Leeanna is described as a white female approximately 5'5" tall, weighing 135 pounds with strawberry blonde hair. There is reason to believe Leeanna may cause harm to the child.
