Freezing rain started to break out in central Maine Saturday as cold air started to pour in from the north. This morning we have seen the snow, sleet, and rain pick up in intensity and many towns are seeing the icing increase. The precip will taper to showers later today, but the wind in combination with the icy conditions pose concerns for more power outages through the day. Pockets of freezing rain and drizzle continue into Monday morning. Another round of rain and even some pockets of freezing rain for inland locations will come through midday Monday as the cold front moves off shore.

Extended Forecast - The snow, sleet, and freezing rain tapers to showers and pockets of freezing drizzle later today and continues into tomorrow morning. Another round of rain is possible midday Monday. We may see some freezing rain mixing in with that for inland locations. Colder air returns to the forecast as we clear out Tuesday. Travel conditions on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day look great. The big story story for the holiday will be the cold temps.
