WASHBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Crews battled a fire at a home on Main Street in Washburn early Saturday morning.

Thanks to outside help from Caribou and Mapleton, the fire was put out in about 2 hours, however one person was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation.

While the flames were contained to the basement and kitchen area, the home does have smoke and water damage, displacing 2 residents who lived there, a man in his 40s and a 16-year old girl.

Anyone who would like to offer assistance to the two should contact the Washburn Town Office or the Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross.
