BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- With this week's cold temperatures, a lot of people want to bundle up inside where it's warm. That's not an option though for workers who spend their days out in the elements.
Starting during the morning hours and lasting through the day, temperatures stayed in the single digits and below for most of the state Tuesday. For many workers those cold temperatures didn't stop their work, spending their day working on roads, delivering mail and many other important jobs. For Bill Riorden, with Roof Systems of Maine, that meant spending the day repairing the roof on top of Bangor City Hall with his crew of seven men.
"We're dealing basically with the elements of the weather now which seems to be one of the problems this week," said Riorden. "But it's nothing we haven't done before and we do this all year round 365 days a year."
According to Riorden, there are certain winter weather conditions he and his crew won't work in, with safety being their most important concern.
