NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Friends of a young mother killed last week are honoring her memory.
24 year-old Jillian Jones was found stabbed to death in an Augusta apartment Wednesday night. Her boyfriend, Justin Pillsbury, has been charged with her murder.
Jones grew up in Bingham with a tight-knit group of friends. The girls' lives have taken them in different directions over the years, but they have always kept in touch. Now, they are grappling with losing a life-long friend. They say they are focusing on supporting Jones' family, and hope those in abusive relationships learn from her story.
"You know it's hard thinking what if she called us? What if we saw her one last time?" Kassandra Strickland said. "And I guess I want anyone who is going through that situation to know that they need to call their family. That no matter what they've done or what they've said or what situation they've put themselves in, they need to call their family and they need to call their friends. I would have been there. Anybody would have been there."
Jones' friends have started a fund to support her four year-old daughter, Brooklyn. Donations can be sent to:
