BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - State Police have arrested an 18-year-old, from Sanford, wanted for a series of burglaries.
Police say Michael Clapp was on the run for several weeks and wanted for a series of burglaries. Officials say Clapp was found in Biddeford hiding inside the house of a friend at 38 Wentworth Street. Police say he was found hiding in an upstairs closet at the home.
Clapp apparently had been staying an Old Orchard Beach motel for most of the past month. Troopers were concerned that Clapp might be in possession of a handgun stolen from the burglary of a home in Hollis, but the gun has not been located.
Clapp was wanted by State Police in connection with burglaries in Hollis and Alton, NH. Three other young men already had been charged in connection with the crimes.
Clapp was arrested and taken to the York County Jail where is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
