AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine labor officials are offering to help Maine residents with disabilities who are seeking work find a job.

October is national Disability Employment Awareness Month. The state Department of Labor is raising awareness about the benefits of employing Maine residents with disabilities this month.

Maine's Bureau of Rehabilitation Services provides job coaching and assistance to individuals with disabilities who are seeking work. It also gives advice to employers on retaining or hiring those with disabilities.

Labor officials say the bureau can work with all kinds of employers, from small businesses to large manufacturing facilities. It has helped more than 900 Maine residents with disabilities get jobs over the last year.
