PRINCETON, Maine (AP) - Maine State Police say the owner of a campground in Princeton is being treated for two gunshot wounds and that the man who shot him has been found dead inside his vehicle.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland said in a release that 60-year-old Steve Whitman is expected to survive his injuries from the shooting around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say the assailant, 52-year-old Craig Woodruff of Baileyville, was later found dead in inside his SUV. The medical examiner's office is to perform an autopsy on Wednesday.
Whitman and his wife own Long Lake Camps in Princeton.
Police say Whitman reported the shooting and identified Woodruff as the man who shot him. The two men knew one another.
