PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - We are beginning to learn what a government shutdown would mean for some people here in Maine.

Civilian workers at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and technicians with the Air and National Guard would likely be affected.
Workers at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard in Kittery escaped having to take furlough days during the sequester but they may not be able to get around a government shutdown.
4700 civilian workers at the shipyard for being told to report to work as usual tomorrow they will be told after arriving whether they will be furloughed or not.
Also about 280 full-time technicians with the Air and National Guard will also be given furlough notices tomorrow morning. Many of them have already been told informally.
Some other impacts include the shutdown of National Parks, including Acadia in Maine.
Things that will not be impacted by the shutdown include mail delivery. Social Security and Medicaid payments will continue during a shutdown.
