BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Michelle Harmon says cheerleading became her daughter's whole world while her son Jesse played Varsity football.
"Ciarra would stand on the sidelines and cheer in front of the cheerleaders on the stands," says Harmon. "And then they started realizing how much she wanted to cheer and they would bring her on the field with them."
This year Ciarra became a freshman at Brewer High and knew things would be different, but little did she know the difference she would make on the team.
"I like all the kids because they are adorable and cute. And they are funny and smart. And they will always love me," says Ciarra.
"I'm sort of not looking forward to when cheering ends but at the same time I said the other day, I hope she doesn't lose these friendships," says Harmon. "And 10 kids immediately responded she never will."
"I feel like she's just as big and impact on our lives as we are for her," says her friend and teammate, Kaitlin Spencer. "She's changed my views for so many different reasons and in so many different ways. So it's really great to be able to help her help me."
"They are great friends," says Ciarra. "We are best pals. Best buddies. BFFs, forever."
