AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The state attorney general and labor commissioners are warning people about a scam, which aims to steal money from people who apply for jobs.

The scammer is stealing the money through pre-paid debit cards. A person with a made-up name offers people jobs and then tells them they need to pay for uniforms and training.

The job posting made it into the Maine Job Bank using a legitimate Florida business name. The scammer claims to be working for a company called "Wipe-Out Windows and Construction" from Charleston, South Carolina.

If you have been a victim of a similar scam, you should contact the department of labor.
