BENTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - It was the outcome that everyone was hoping for.
The search for an 86-year old man from Benton ended this morning when Arthur Wakeman was found alive.
A search involving more than 60 people, that involved a helicopter and dogs, lasted two nights and parts of two days. This morning the effort paid off when Wakeman was found on the Unity road in Benton a mile and a quarter from his home.
Volunteer searcher Deborah Palman and her german shepherd Quinn spotted him. Wakeman endured some prettyrough weather conditions the past two nights.
"This is what I call a happy, happy day. we found him and he's alive. When we can do that it is the best overall scenario. I was worried we'd find him and he might not be alive", said Lt. Kevin Adam.
Wakeman's nephew tells NEWS CENTERhis uncle is doing well but may need some rehabilitation after he's released from the hospital.
