If you kept an eye on the sky today chances are you noticed it changing color as high cloudiness moved in followed by lower clouds in the late afternoon. All of this was a harbinger of some stormy weather that is headed our way for later tonight and Friday. An area of low pressure has developed off the coast of North Carolina and it is expected to move northward reaching the mid coast of Maine by Friday evening. Rain will break out across our region tonight and continue for most of the day on Friday falling quite heavily at times. Rainfall totals could exceed 2 inches and if this verifies some flooding problems may occur. The rain will wind down Friday night and by Saturday morning the low should be located over New Brunswick. A small ridge of high pressure will then move in bringing us a mostly sunny Saturday. On Sunday a slow moving cold front will be headed our way so look for more cloudiness and a chance for a shower. The front won't reach us until Monday so showers are likely that day with partial clearing on Tuesday.
