Kathryn McDonough charged in Lizzi Marriott disappearance
BRENTWOOD, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) - Kathryn "kat" McDonough entered a guilty plea this afternoon for her role in the death of Elizabeth "Lizzi' Marriot.
Lizzie Marriott died of asphyxiation inside an apartment in Dover, New Hampshire last October. Her body was dumped in the river behind the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and never recovered. Kat Mcdonough and Lizzie Marriott were friends who worked together at the Target store. The night of Marriott's death Mcdonough asked Marriott to come to the apartment she shared with Seth Mazzaglia.
Inside court today McDonough admitted her guilt to the charges against her. She was then sentenced to serve time at the New Hampshire state prison. With good behavior she will serve at least 1 and a half years, with no more than 4-years.
Investigators believe Marriott was killed by Seth Mazzaglia during a sex act inside that Dover apartment where Mcdonough and Mazzaglia lived. Part of the agreement calls for McDonough to testify against Mazzaglia when he goes on trial next year.
Members of Marriott's family called the sentence too light and doesn't take into consideration the seriousness of Mcdonough's actions. They say if not for McDonough then Lizzie Marriott would still be alive. They do however think this was the right course of action overall for the case, with McDonough testifying against Mazzaglia.
