PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Planning Board has approved a revised plan for the development at Thompson's Point.
Developers have been working for three years on a plan to turn the are into a mixed-use business, arts, and transportation complex. They say that while some of the plans have changed, the complex will still offer the same opportunities for the city.
The plans still include an event center, parking garage, and transportation center that offers easy access to rail and bus travel. One of the office buildings originally planned will not be built. An interested tenant has expressed interest in the existing vacant building on that plot instead. The developer has also scrapped plans for a concert hall.
The first building of phase one of the project is expected to come online the summer of 2015.
