If you follow the US Open chances are you are aware of all the rain they had to deal with on Thursday. The storm responsible for that wet weather is going to track south of New England tonight putting us on its northern fringe. Rain is likely south and west of Portland tonight with just the chance for a few showers in most other locations. The farther north you are the lower the chances. The low will move away from us on Friday and as it does it will pull a cold front down from Canada. This front could kick off a few showers and if we see much sunshine a few thunderstorms as well. The front is expected to be off the Maine coast by Saturday morning and with high pressure building in we can look forward to a fantastic day with temperatures reaching the upper 70s. On Sunday the high will give way to an approaching warm front and this should result in a partly sunny day with increasing afternoon clouds. Warm and muggy weather is expected for Monday and Tuesday with a chance for showers or thunderstorms both days.
