WEST PARIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - State police say a young man shot by a state trooper is recovering at Central Maine Medical Center after emergency surgery.
State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland says James Reynolds was shot on Roy Road in West Paris around 6:45 PM Saturday by state trooper Jason Wing. Police say Reynolds was armed with a hunting rifle. He was taken to CMMC in Lewiston by Life Flight helicopter.
The Maine Attorney General's Office, assisted by State Police, is investigating the incident, but the final report on the shooting won't be released for several weeks. The Attorney General's Office investigates all shootings in Maine involving police officers. Wing has been place on paid administrative leave until the investigation is completed.
