GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Souther Maine baseball team has qualified for seven Division III College World Series. Head Coach Ed Flaherty has guided the Huskies to every one of them.
The architect of USM baseball has instilled belief in his ball club throughout the year: whether it was their 19-game winning streak in the middle of the season or surviving three elimination games in their NCAA Northeast Regional.
His philosophy has been typical coach speak: one pitch, one inning, one game, one opponent at a time. It's something that his players usualy adhere to and when they waver, the 28th year head coach reiterates his message. A school record 42 wins and being one of the last eight teams left left in the country is proof that mantra works.
They'll open their 2013 College World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin against Millsaps College (MS) Friday morning at 11 a.m. eastern time.
