PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine man is facing charges for allegedly kidnapping a young man at gunpoint during a car sale, forcing him into the trunk of the vehicle, then driving him to Delaware before releasing him.
A criminal complaint charging 29-year-old Travis Landry of Surry with kidnapping and using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence was filed this week in federal court in Portland.
Investigators say it started April 24 when Landry met 19-year-old Alexander Filatov of Gorham to look at a BMW that Filatov had advertised for sale.
Authorities say Landry showed Filatov a gun, ordered him into the trunk, and drove eight hours to Newark, Del.
Landry was caught May 7 in Granville County, N.C.
He has not yet appeared in court. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
