HAMPDEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A fire at a home in Hampden on Wednesday night caused a woman to jump out of a second story window.
Firefighters responded to 350 Main Road North around 11:30 p.m. when flames were reported coming out of the second floor. Jennifer Seekings jumped from the window to escape the flames.
She had burns covering more than half of her body and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for treatment.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second floor and put it out quickly before it spread.
The cause of the fire is still being determined, but firefighters say it looks like it started accidentally in the bedroom.
The only damage to the first floor of the house was water damage and firefighters have since turned the home back over to its owners.
