LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - More athletes are coming through the Lewiston school district each year -- and current sports facilities aren't cutting it anymore.
That's why the city of Lewiston has been working on a project to upgrade the Franklin Pasture Sport Complex, which is the 100 acres surrounding the high school.
The board of trustees is announcing that they have reached the halfway mark to pay for the $1.3 million main complex.
In total, it's a five million dollar project -- which includes upgrades and repairs to fields, trails, lighting, -- as well as new restrooms and concession stands.
It will be open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
