BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- High school students got some hands on lessons Wednesday into what it's like to do dental work for a living.

Penobscot Community Healthcare has been hosting a three day Dental Academy. Students from around the Bangor area applied to be in the camp where they are learning about dental careers by doing activities and shadowing workers at P.C.H.C.'s dental center on Union Street.

On Wednesday the students were busy taking mouth impressions. They are also learning how to take X-rays and do suturing. Many kids who are interested in being a dentist say they feel good knowing there's opportunities for dentists in Maine.

Aside from dental work, the students have also been learning other healthcare skills like how to do C.P.R. The dental academy will continue through Thursday.
