AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Today, six Maine teachers were honored at a ceremony at the State House in Augusta. They are the semi-finalists for the Maine Teacher of the Year Award. While the teachers were at the capitol, NEWS CENTER talked to their students at their schools, and we found out just how much of an impact these teachers have on our kids.

Two nominees not mentioned in the video are Cynthia Raymond of Hall-Dale Middle School in Farmingdale, and Karen MacDonald of King Middle School in Portland. All the nominees will undergo an extensive review process, and the winner will be announced at a surprise assembly at the teacher's school in September.
