ST. JOHN PLANTATION, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - After spending a night trapped under his snowmobile, weathering wind chill temperatures near zero degrees and heavy squalls, a man from Massachusetts is recovering in the hospital.
A friend of 64 year old Paul Lessard, who is from Milford, Massachusetts, called the Warden Service to say that Lessard hadn't returned from a snowmobile ride Tuesday.
Searchers immediately hit the trails, covering 110 miles by 2:30 AM. Wardens called off the search until Wednesay morning.
Two volunteers, Phil and Tyler Corriveau, decided to join in the search Wednesday and before they could even meet up with the coordinating Wardens they came across Lessard.
Lessard was trapped under his snowmobile in a ditch next to the trail. He was conscious but showing signs of hypothermia.
He's being treated at the Northern Maine Medical Center.
