BRUNSWICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Across the country, a half a million people will be bowling for the Big Brothers Big Sisters largest fundraiser, Bowling for Kids' Sake this spring.
In Brunswick alone, 600 people participated Saturday.
The fundraiser supports the Bath/Brunswick chapter's programming, such as mentor screening and training.
According to Bath/Brunswick Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Lindsay MacDonald, the chapter hoped to raise $55,000 Saturday.
Currently, the program serves 277 children in the Sagadahoc County area. Open to children ages 6 to 14, the program pairs children facing adversity with positive role models.
"We are always looking for volunteers," said MacDonald. "We have a lot of children on our wait list right now."
She said there are 8 girls and 16 boys in the Brunswick area waiting for adult matches.
