BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Central Maine nurseries and gardening supply stores are gearing up for the anticipated rush of customers the Easter season brings.
Sprague's Nursery on Union Street will open their doors to the public on Monday, April 1. Because of the late storms and cool March weather we've had, Sprague's is opening later than usual. Last year they were open for business by St. Patrick's Day. But management says this late open should not affect the amount of customers this Spring will bring.
"We're just kind of expecting all of the business to come kind of all at once, said Sprague's Retail Manager, Melissa Higgins. "You know, as soon as the weather breaks everything kind of cuts loose at that point and people are eager. So rather than a gradual trickle, it will probably be business all at once."
Easter lilies are a popular flower to purchase this weekend. If you do buy these flowers, keep them out of the reach of young children and pets. Easter lilies are potentially toxic and can do harm if ingested.
