SKOWHEGAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The 11 year old girl charged with killing a 3 month old infant in Fairfield last summer is not competent to stand trial at this time. That is the ruling issued by District Court Judge Charles LaVerdierre.
The 11 year old, who we are not naming because of her age, was charged with killing Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway last July while the 11 year old's mother was babysitting the infant. The judge did leave the door open for the case to go forward at some point in the future if the girls competency status changes.
For the time being she will be referred to the Commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services for treatment and evaluation. Deputy Attorney General Bill Stokes says the court will likely review her competency status again in another 60 days.
