BRUNSWICK, Ga. (FCN) -- The Brunswick Police Department has announced 2 arrests have been made in killing of Brunswick baby. DeMarquis Elkins, 17, and a 14-year-old.
Susan Bishop with tears in her eyes delivered a balloon where a small memorial sits at the intersection where the 13-month-old was fatally shot.
"It hits to the core of my heart and it does everybody. If you have a heart it just hits you right here," said Bishop.
A mother and her toddler were on their morning walk, when they were approached by two unknown teen suspects and shot, according to Brunswick Police Chief Tobe C. Green.
The 13-month-old male died from a gunshot wound and the mother was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System in non-life threatening condition for treatment a gunshot wound to the leg, Green detailed.
The shooting occurred only a block away from Glynn Academy, causing the school to go on lock-down Thursday morning.
The school was placed on code yellow lock-down as a precaution.
The Brunswick Police Department is offering a $10,000.00 Reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for this crime.
