SEBEC, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- A Sebec woman entered a contest and won the grand prize. Better still it was a nationwide small business contest held by Federal Express for $25,000.

Nicole Snow and her Darn Good Yarn company are importing and exporting yarn all around the world. Snow gets her product imported from India and Nepal. They are made out of recycled silks, cottons and linens. The arrangement also provides jobs for 250 women there where poverty levels are very high.

Snow says,"What happens in the manufacturing process for curtains and sheets and stuff you always have excess stuff left over. So what I have happen is people go in to these mills, get the excess that was going to be thrown out and take it back to a small family owned co op and they turn it in to yarns to my specifications and I sell it all over the world."

Nicole says she is hoping the 25-thousand dollars she won in the Fed Ex contest, will help her find resources here in the U.S. to have the same kind of manufacturing operation here in the states
