PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Portland police are investigating the report of shots fired in a Congress Street apartment building.
Police were called to the Lafayette Square apartment building shortly after 2 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered multiple shots had been fired in a common area of the building on the sixth floor.
Commander Gary Rogers said police searched the entire apartment building, which took nearly three hours to clear.
Rogers said no one was injured in the shooting.
Two suspects who were involved fled the scene before police arrived, and police were still searching for them as of 5 p.m. Friday. The suspects were described as two adult males.
Residents were allowed to go back into the building Friday evening.
