(NEWS CENTER) Maine lawmakers are in the thick of the session, grappling with budget questions and other sticky policy matters. Senate President Justin Alfond and Senate Minority Leader Mike Thibodeau go In The Arena with Pat Callaghan.

They discuss the spirit of compromise embodied in Gov. Paul LePage's decision to sign a St. Patrick's Day early liquor sales bill, and whether it's time to revisit the rules that govern Sunday sales.

Alfond and Thibodeau also talk about the disagreement over how to repay Maine's Medicaid debt to hospitals, keeping a lid on information about who has concealed weapons permits, whether the new fireworks law will be revised, and the latest push for a higher minimum wage.

The two sharply disagreed over cuts in municipal revenue sharing, with Alfond declaring that proposal "dead," and Thibodeau claiming Democrats have not proposed anything solid to replace those cuts.

Thibodeau and Alfond also sparred over partisanship, with Republican Thibodeau complaining that majority Democrats are not treating them fairly.
