PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The University of New England held its annual health professions career fair today at the Portland campus.

Rite Aid, Community Pharmacy, Target, Maine Medical Centers, and Martin's Point Health Care were some of the employers there looking to meet job-seekers one-on-one at the medical school.

UNE Career Services Coordinator, Jeff Nevers, says the employers were looking for nurses, pharmacists, and others with backgrounds in healthcare fields.

"Healthcare overall in relation to other industries in employment is pretty rosy," says Nevers. "I get contacted by recruiters from literally all over the country looking for physician assistants, physical therapists. I can't keep up with them, quite honestly."

UNE is hosting another job fair on March 7 at the Biddeford Campus. That fair will include more employers outside of the health-care industry, and is open to the public.
