FARMINGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - What started as a birthday party turned in to a drug overdose and death, and now five people are facing felony charges.
Farmington Police arrested five people follwing an investigation in the death of Marilyn Rider, 52, of Farmington.
According to officials, Rider died on November 11, 2012 due to an apparent drug overdose.
According to court documents, Rider was attending her boyfriend's birthday party at a home in Wilton.
Police say Rider's boyfriend, Roy Gordon, had received morphine pills from a friend, Scott Kidder.
Kidder allegedly bought the pills from a Wilton woman, Terry Oliver.
Court documents state the partiers injected morphine intravenously.
Police say when Rider could no longer stand, Gordon drove her back to their apartment in Farmington. Neighbors reported hearing Gordon crying for her to wake up the next morning.
Police say Gordon and another defendant, Eric Barnes, attempted to hide evidence of drug use in the home before the ambulance arrived.
Police say that on this Thursday night, officers from the Farmington Police Department, Wilton Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and Maine State Police joined forces and arrested the following on the warrants which had been issued by the Franklin County District Court:
Terry Oliver DOB 03-16-1959 of Wilton on charges of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs which caused the death of another person (Class A crime) and two counts of Trafficking Schedule W Drugs (Class B crimes).
Roy Gordon DOB 11-10-1970 of Wilton on charges of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs which caused the death of another person (Class A crime), three counts of Unlawful Furnishing Schedule W Drugs (Class C crimes), and one count of Falsifying Physical Evidence. (Class D crime)
Seth Gordon DOB 12-11-1989 of Wilton on a charge of Unlawful Furnishing of Schedule W Drugs which caused the death of another person. (Class B crime)
Erick Barnes DOB 05-30-1985 of Industry on charges of Unlawful Furnishing Schedule W Drugs which caused the death of another person (Class B crime) and Falsifying Physical Evidence. (Class D Crime)
Scott Kidder DOB 07-09-1980 of Wilton on one count of Furnishing Schedule W Drugs (Class C crime)
