KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A human body has been found off the coast of Kennebunkport.
In a media release from the Kennebunkport Police Department, Chief Craig Sanford says the body was found around 5:00 PM Monday. The remains were found on Vaughn's Island, which is just off Cape Porpoise.
Chief Sanford says members of the police and fire department recovered the body. It has been taken to the Maine Medical Examiners office. It may take several days for the body to be identified.
In the media release, Chief Sanford says it is too early to tell whether the discovery is related to the disappearance of Prescott Wright and Zachary Wells.
Wright and Wells went missing after a party shortly before Christmas 2012. The family of Prescott Wright has published an obituary for him.
